Uninspired

Nothing comes.  I sit and stare at an empty screen, waiting for something to happen, but nothing does.  On these occasions, new music sometimes helps.  Lately I’ve been contemplating my apathy towards most things I used to have a genuine curiosity with, and so I need some music that explores those emotions.

Luckily, pitchfork.com put out a massive feature on the 200 best albums of the 2000s, one of which is Neon Golden by The Notwist.  I’d never heard of these guys before, but the brief summary below the listing mentioned Radiohead-esque sounds along with Radiohead-esque lyrics, which was enough to pique my interest.

The lead singer’s voice is subdued and frail, sometimes bored.  Scattered beats, minor ambience, quiet electric guitars: all sounds genuinely Radiohead, and genuinely pleasing.  I don’t feel too apathetic about that.

I probably will soon, however.  I lose interest in most everything.  Until then, music to fit that apathetic mood, Neon Golden by The Notwist.
